Lido Key Beach

Lido Key Beach

This past Sunday, my husband and I ditched the kids and pups to enjoy some alone time at Lido Key Beach. Normally we try and get to the beach at least once a week. We like to switch between many of the area beaches but Lido is my husband’s favorite! We had not enjoyed a full beach day at Lido since May with red tide being in the area. Missing the beach as much as we did and with red tide gone, we couldn’t wait to get there.

A Weekend in Downtown SRQ

A Weekend in Downtown SRQ

I spent last weekend in Downtown Sarasota. I love it there, you can find so many things to do, each offering its own vibe. From a fun evening out with the girls, to the Saturday Farmer’s Market, to a nearby eclectic bazaar, a yummy vegan lunch, and an evening of live music.

Red Tide

Red Tide

The only way you can keep me from going to the Sarasota beaches is during a hurricane event or when red tide is present. Currently many of the area beaches are experiencing red tide. For those who may not know what red tide is, according to Mote Marine, “red tide is a harmful algal bloom, that occurs when there is is a higher-than-normal concentration of a microscopic alga (plant-like organism).

Meet Mugsy

Meet Mugsy

A little over a week ago, July 7th to be exact, I brought home the sweetest little baby boy. Let me introduce to you Mugsy-Bear, a Yorkie-Chon weighing in at just 3.7 lbs and 10 weeks old. He’s mostly all black with just a patch of white on his chest and a few white hairs on his paws. His hair is silky with a beautiful wave. So why am I posting about my new puppy? Mugsy and me are going to help you know where to go in the Sarasota area with your best pet pal.

4th of July Weekend

4th of July Weekend

Time really flies, so before this month gets away from me, I wanted to share some of the things we experienced over the 4th of July weekend. Every area offers its unique things to do for the holiday weekend and Sarasota definitely delivers when it comes to choices.

The Know Women

The Know Women

Sarasota doesn’t just have beautiful beaches, it also has beautiful women. Beautiful women who are super smart, women that everyone must know and do business with. Have you heard of the “Know Women”? Up until this past Thursday, I had not, but now that I have, I want to be one. The Know Women are a collection of highly successful driven women. They collaborate and support one another as well as work to inspire and motivate the advancement for all women.

Just a “Normal” Weekend

Just a “Normal” Weekend

One of the things I love most about living here is the quality of life it provides; no doubt it is the endless summer and I can not get enough! Although I do try to live like I’m on vacation every weekend, once in a while, real life sets in and a “normal” weekend must be had. This momma spent her weekend at a lacrosse tournament. This is both my kids primary sport. Even though I wasn’t at an outdoor music venue, or dining waterside, or relaxing on the beach, there was no place I’d rather be than watching my kids do their thing. Wherever I go, the sun is shining and the palm trees are swaying!

Siesta Key Staycation

Siesta Key Staycation

Last Fall, my husband and I began thinking about what we were going to do for my upcoming birthday. This was to be a milestone birthday and we wanted to do something big. Initially we thought about a destination party but with Covid, travel restrictions, and the uncertainty of the future; to plan something like that seemed more of a headache than pleasurable. One weekend last October, we were strolling Siesta Beach as we so often do and I turned and looked at my husband and said, “Let’s have my birthday celebration here”!
