Just a “Normal” Weekend

Just a “Normal” Weekend

First and foremost, I’m a wife and mom. Then as my career, I am a bio-medical writer. I write clinical study protocols and reports for clients testing product on humans. My hobby however is blogging, specifically about things that I’ve come across that moved me in some sort of way. I feel compelled to share whatever that is in hopes to allow you to feel that same way. Living in Sarasota truly provides ample opportunities of things to blog about. There is something going on every night of the week. I didn’t always have these options and perhaps that is why I value them so much.

Growing up, we didn’t have much, so the places we lived weren’t in the nicest of neighborhoods. I believe this has been a driving force for why I always seek out the beauty in everything; specifically the places I’ve chosen to live as an adult. The place I moved from in New Jersey was absolutely beautiful but I wanted more. I didn’t want to enjoy it for only 2-3 months per year, praying that after I worked all week, the weather gods would provide decent weather for the weekend. I dreaded the 9 months of winter and longed for the sun!

I had never been to the west coast of Florida until my inlaws moved here. We would come out to visit them for Spring Break and Christmas. I instantly fell in love, there was something super special about here in addition to the obvious. There was an energy and happiness that fell over me when I was here. I know most people feel this way when they are on vacation but I started to wonder, “What if I could feel this way all the time and not just when I’m vacationing here?” For anyone that knows me, once I get something in my head, there’s no stopping me. I knew it was something I had to find out. We moved to the west coast of Florida May of 2016!

Don’t you get that “feeling” just looking at this pic? That vibe that only summer sun and sea (gulf) can provide.

One of the things I love most about living here is the quality of life it provides; no doubt it is the endless summer and I can not get enough! Although I do try to live like I’m on vacation every weekend, once in a while, real life sets in and a “normal” weekend must be had. This momma spent her weekend at a lacrosse tournament. This is both my kids primary sport. Even though I wasn’t at an outdoor music venue, or dining waterside, or relaxing on the beach, there was no place I’d rather be than watching my kids do their thing. Wherever I go, the sun is shining and the palm trees are swaying!

I will always share a weekly blog unless I’m out of town and it genuinely is not possible. However, there will be some weekends like this one where it just wasn’t possible to do a vacation-like plan. For those that are local, I do provide weekly plans for you. I hope you’ve had a chance to check out my events page. I usually load it by Thursday evening with some great options for that upcoming weekend. So even if I can’t always make it there, there’s no reason you shouldn’t be able to. Get out and do things, enjoy beautiful Sarasota and its surrounding areas. We are blessed to live in this paradise!
